A brief introduction.

Welcome to my web site. My name is Cassandra Garcia. I am a Certified Nurse Midwife. I am also a Legal Nurse Consultant, fully qualified to serve as an expert witness for both plaintiff and defense.

According to state statutes, CNMs and nurse practitioners are required to have written protocols for collaborative practice and prescriptive privileges. I specialize in the creation of customized protocols for collaborative MD/CNM and nurse practitioner services nationwide. I am pleased to provide this, and related consultative services to those in my field of practice, as well as services to those requiring a certified legal nurse consultant.

As a CNM,  I have become aware that there is a need for consultative services for both new and existing MD/CNM practices across the nation. Protocols are a legal requirement for practice in all fifty states. This can be verified by contacting the Board of Nursing in your state, or the American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM.) In some cases, established practices may provide you with their own existing protocols upon employment. Some practices may not have protocols in place, or may not even be aware that they are a legal requirement of MD/CNM collaborative practice. This is where I may be of service to you.

One of the most significant aspects of having custom protocols created for your your unique practice situation is that they offer not only guidelines, but vital protection against medical legal liability and exposure both for the CNM and for the MD, if they are carefully adhered to in daily practice.

I create a comprehensive, customized publication for my clients. It is a full scope manual of guidelines for the professional that includes antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and gynecology protocols. It is an essential document for the experienced CNM, the new graduate, or the CNM who has entered into a new collaborative association with any OB-Gyn practice. The protocols also include guidelines for prescriptive and hospital privileges for CNMs. Also included is an extensive bibliography, including references for ACOG Technical Bulletins.

Standard, or �generic� protocols are limited in scope, and may not cover all of the requirements for your unique situation. The service I provide  includes the revision of your existing protocols to bring them up to date to suit your practice.
